Question: What is the acceptance rate to the part-time MBA program?

August 18, 2011 12:55 pm 0 comments

Question: What is the acceptance rate to the part-time MBA program? Answer: Admissions rate for PMBA is not really a good measure. The applicants to PMBA typically work for several years getting ready to go back to school. We advise, encourage courses, and hold applications until the student is ready to “make the plunge”.  Rejection is no fun for applicants or the school.

Question: Is a 3 year undergraduate degree in business sufficient to apply for the full time Tulane

Question: Is a 3 year undergraduate degree in business sufficient to apply for the full time Tulane MBA Program? Answer: No, the requirement for graduate study is a four year undergraduate or a three year BCOM plus a masters degree.  Sorry!

Let’s get it started!

July 13, 2011 1:01 pm 0 comments

Hello everybody! Let me introduce myself, first. Well, my name is Anastasia Petri and I am an incoming, international, full-time MBA student from Greece (yeah, this country that appears on the headlines worldwide lately and, unfortunately, not for the good reasons. I hope that the situation will improve soon, though, giving a boost to the European and global economy). First of all, I would like to say how glad I feel to have been introduced to all my international fellow [...]

Two Years, Too Fast

May 24, 2011 12:02 pm 0 comments

I can’t believe that it’s already been two years.  I started the MBA program with the summer classes in July of 2009 and the time has flown by.  It’s been an amazing experience. I’ve learned more than I ever thought I could, tackled statistics, made great friends, gained confidence in my capabilities and established a Tulane network of professors, classmates and professionals that will continue to grow for the rest of my life. Aside from this being a life-changing experience [...]

Question: Is there a minimum GMAT score to enter the PMBA?

May 20, 2011 3:57 pm 0 comments

Question: Is there a minimum GMAT score to enter the PMBA? Answer: Admission to the MBA programs is really about your ability and fit with the Tulane programs. The GMAT is one measure, transcripts and recommendations offer others.  All work together to give the committee a more complete picture of the applicant.  That said, it is unusual for someone to be admitted with a GMAT below the mid point-of the test – 520. The average score for all admitted PMBA [...]

Quick Tour – Darwin Fenner Fund

April 20, 2011 1:11 pm 1 comment

Guest post from Scott Gerdes, MBA2. Final deliberations in which the Darwin Fenner research analysts decide on how to allocate roughly $2 million are drawing near.  Armed with classic and even some more recent, unpublished journal articles, the sector teams are dwindling down the stocks in the S&P 400 and S&P 500 to make final buy and sell recommendations.  Traditionally, the fund has substantially outperformed the benchmark stock index with lower levels of risk, and carrying on this tradition is [...]

Quick Tour – Burkenroad Reports

April 18, 2011 3:45 pm 0 comments

Today’s guest post comes from Alexandra Thurber, MBA 2. Burkenroad Reports is a course in equity analysis. Students are divided into teams of 3-5 and follow one public company throughout the semester.  For the most part, we follow small cap companies headquartered in the Southeastern United States.  The companies span many industries, but students doing the Energy specialization can choose to follow an energy company.  Students meet with management, visit company sites, conduct extensive research on the company, and develop [...]

    One semester down…

It is hard to believe that five months ago I packed up my car and spent 24 hours driving with my best friend down to New Orleans. Now, I can successfully say I have completed my first semester at Tulane, and I managed to survive. It has been a really enjoyable experience so far despite some trials and tribulations. Let me begin with some memories from the first semester.  If we go all the way back to orientation, we spent [...]

Let me introduce myself. I am originally from Buffalo, NY. I graduated from University of Virginia in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I spent two years working at the FBI as an analyst before making the decision to go back to school to get my MBA. I decided I was more interested in a marketing research career than working in the criminal justice sector, although my time there taught me a lot about myself and my future goals. After [...]

The second session comes up so fast when we just said goodbye to our first. That’s exactly what an MBA life looks like. But hold on a second! Here, you can do whatever you like, running with your dog, walking with your friend, or just doing nothing but watching the ducks in the water is also a perfect option! For me, riding my bike, [...]
